Other Legal Services

The primary focus of our practice is on business law, estate planning, estate administration and real estate law.  With over 25 years of legal experience I have also worked in other areas of the law, many of which service our clients who have business, estate planning and real estate needs.  Those services include the following areas:

Litigation

litigation, personal injuryAttorney Boerger is admitted to practice before the local courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in the United States District Court for Massachusetts. He has represented clients in the Massachusetts District and Superior Court System, the Massachusetts Land Court, Massachusetts Court of Appeals and the Probate Courts in the Commonwealth.

The decision to initiate litigation should not be entered into without a complete understanding of the litigation process including the length of the process as well as its potential cost. Sometimes the decision to enter into litigation is made for you when you are served with a complaint.  Attorney Boerger can work with you and guide you on the most effective solution to deal with a situation which may or may not include litigation.

Bankruptcy

bankruptcyBankruptcy is a legal proceeding in which a person who can not pay his or her bills can get a fresh financial start. The right to file for bankruptcy is provided by federal law, and all bankruptcy cases are handled in federal court. Filing bankruptcy immediately stops all of your creditors from seeking to collect debts from you, at least until your debts are sorted out according to the law.  Attorney Boerger has represented businesses who have had clients file for bankruptcy to advise them on steps they should take to protect there interests.  Attorney Boerger also assists individuals who are burden with debt obtain discharge under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code.

Divorce / Family Law

divorceWhen advising business owners and clients who are drafting their estate plans a common question is: What happens if there is a divorce in the family?  How will the assets be divided and what steps can be taken to help protect assets from passing outside the family to an ex-spouse?  Attorney Boerger has represented clients in obtaining divorces in the Probate Court in both contested and non-contested cases.  His knowledge of the divorce process is very useful when working with his clients.
